The disciples' return and wait
After the ascension of Jesus (May 12, 33), the disciples return to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, a "Sabbath day's journey" away. They gather in an upper room, probably the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark, and devote themselves unanimously to prayer, together with the women and the family of Jesus. This period of waiting foreshadows the characteristics of the nascent Church.
Acts 12.12 (King James Version) :And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying.King James Version (1769), domaine public — texte : eBible.org
