The journey through Samaria
Pericope 209 recounts the journey of Jesus and his disciples through Samaria, reported only by Luke. Leaving Galilee on October 3, AD 32, Jesus chooses the shorter Samaritan route to Jerusalem. Some villages refuse to welcome him, illustrating the tensions between Jews and Samaritans, while others accept him. This passage foreshadows the universal mission and the future evangelization of the region by the 70 disciples.
Luke 9.52-53 (King James Version) :And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.King James Version (1769), domaine public — texte : eBible.org
