Who is Jesus?

Matthew 16.13 (King James Version) :
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

Who is Jesus?

Let us put the question to a Jew, and he will say that he is an impostor, a false messiah.

Let us put the question to a Muslim, and he will say that Jesus is a prophet named Isa.

Let us now put the question to an atheist, and he will tell us that Jesus was a Jewish preacher in the time of Herod who was sentenced to death for blasphemy.

Let us put the question to a Christian, and he will say that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God who died for our sins.

Who is telling the truth, who is right?

What does the Bible say about Jesus, what definitions does it give? It says that Jesus is:

The way, the truth, the life, the light; he is Savior, he is Lord, he is the of living water, he is the good shepherd, he is the Son of God, he is King of kings and Lord of lords, and even more, he is God!!!

This answers the first question Jesus asked his disciples: who do people say that I am?

Then Jesus asks the disciples a second question: and you, who do you say that I am?

The Lord is asking us who he is to us.

It is said that he is the way, the truth and the life!!!! But is he my way, is he my truth, is he my life?

It is said that he is the Lord of lords, but is he my Lord?

He is Savior, but is he my personal Savior?

He is king, but does he reign fully in my life?

We must realize that knowing who Jesus is, knowing Jesus, is only the starting point of a reality that ultimately goes beyond us.

Since he is king, let us let him reign; since he is Savior, let us accept that he saves us; since he is master, let us be taught by him. Since he is the good shepherd, let us stay under his watchful care and not be lost sheep. Let us make who he is a reality in each of our lives.
