The questions of the foreigners to the Messiah Jesus
An episode unique to John (John 12.20-50), set on Holy Tuesday in the Court of the Gentiles. Some Greeks ask to see Jesus, which triggers the announcement of the hour of his glorification. Through the image of the grain of wheat, Jesus reveals that his death is the source of universal life. The cross is presented as a glorious lifting up that draws all people to him, opening salvation to all nations.
John 12.24 (King James Version) :Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.King James Version (1769), domaine public — texte : eBible.org
