Many people have devoted their lives to the development of the Church in various ways. Some rose up against flagrant injustices, sometimes at the risk of their lives. Others spent many years translating the biblical texts in order to make them accessible to as many people as possible.
The spread of the Gospel did not happen without difficulty, and the preachers who contributed to its expansion were rarely welcomed kindly. The Messiah Jesus had warned those who wished to become his disciples that they would be rejected and mistreated, but that their reward in the kingdom of God would be great. Indeed, a servant is not greater than his master, and the latter died on the cross like a criminal.
In this series, we offer to trace the biographies of men and women who, through their work, contributed to the development of the work of God.
